Workers compensation is paid by your employer, either through funding themselves through what's called a bond or purchasing workers compensation insurance through an insurance company. There never should be a fee or cost to an injured worker who sustains an injury on the job. Oftentimes, I have clients who come to me and they bring in a stack of medical bills or receipts for copayments that they paid through their own private health insurance or just out-of-pocket expenses that they've paid themselves. What I would say to that is, that person who has out-of-pocket expenses needs to contact a competent attorney immediately, because again, under workers compensation there aren't a lot of pocket expenses. There should not be any payments made by an injured worker for any of the medical treatment that they get, as a result of the work injury.
