Discrimination

If you feel that you're being treated unfairly for one of the reasons listed below, please contact us right away. Let us protect you and preserve your rights.

Employment discrimination strips away the dignity, confidence and security that you need, not just to remain employed, but to provide financial security for your loved ones. It occurs when an employer treats one employee or group differently from the way they treat another employee or group. The unfair treatment often is based on sex, race/color, national origin, age, disability, religion, equal pay/compensation, pregnancy and/or retaliation for filing a complaint.

Age Discrimination
Age discrimination involves treating a job applicant or employee unfairly because of their age. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) protects individuals who are age 40 or older from discrimination.

Disability Discrimination
According to a national survey conducted by the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project in September 2010, 27 percent of American adults live with a disability that interferes with their daily lives. Disability discrimination occurs when an employer, covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act, treats a qualified employee unfairly.

Equal Pay/Compensation Discrimination
The Equal Pay Act requires that men and women in the same workplace be given equal pay for equal work, as long as they share equal or equivalent qualifications, education, seniority and work experience.

National Origin Discrimination
National origin discrimination involves treating job applicants or employees unfairly because of their country of origin, ethnicity, accent or the appearance to be of a certain ethnic background.

Pregnancy Discrimination
Pregnancy discrimination involves treating a woman, applicant or employee unfairly because of pregnancy, childbirth, or a medical condition related to pregnancy or childbirth. The law forbids discrimination against a woman who is pregnant including recruiting, hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, fringe benefits, medical leave (in certain situations), health insurance (in certain situations) and any other term or condition of employment.

Race Discrimination
Race discrimination involves treating an applicant or employee unfairly because a person is of a certain race or because of visible characteristics associated with race, such as skin complexion.

Religious Discrimination
Religious discrimination involves treating an applicant or employee unfairly because of the person's religious beliefs. It is illegal to harass an individual because of his or her religion.

Sex-Based Discrimination/Sexual Harassment
Sex discrimination involves treating an applicant or employee unfairly because of the person's sex/gender. It is unlawful to harass an individual because of his or her sex/gender.
